The day after Kate’s recital we headed home, but stopped in Auckland for Ellie to sit her ATCL in singing. We picked up her pianist Juan Kim (he’s fantastic!) and made the concert hall in plenty of time for them both to warm up. No-one is allowed in the room to listen while the judging is happening, but I sat outside and could hear it clearly – tears in my eyes! She sounded so beautiful! She sang ten songs – some in English, but also in French, Italian and German.
Her face said it all when she came out of the theatre! The end of a long year of practice. And also the end of school!! She finished her NCEA 3 exams last week, so she is now finally on holiday!
