Today I read Kate’s blog about simplicity on her ShoeLess blog. Got me thinking…
Our lawn is covered with beautiful daisies – so simple, and so under-valued. I spend ages cultivating other fine flowers in my garden, and yet are any of them more beautiful than the daisy? Hardly.
Robert Burns said, “The daisy’s for simplicity and unaffected air.” 🙂
I remember reading about the life and work of Mother Theresa when I was sixteen and being deeply touched and inspired by her simple life. Here’s a beautiful quote from her for us to think on today:
““In the West we have a tendency to be profit-oriented, where everything is measured according to the results and we get caught up in being more and more active to generate results. In the East — especially in India — I find that people are more content to just be, to just sit around under a banyan tree for half a day chatting to each other. We Westerners would probably call that wasting time. But there is value to it. Being with someone, listening without a clock and without anticipation of results, teaches us about love.
