Yesterday I received a strangely shaped envelope in the mail. When I opened it, I discovered two very squashed and gooey chocolate fish. A note from New Zealand Post accompanied the fish, thanking me for my honesty in informing the local post shop that they had undercharged me $80 for some stamps I’d bought! (I didn’t really have a choice about telling them of their mistake, given that the stamps were being used to post out orders for The Gift of Values book! Especially when the book teaches about honesty!)
Milly had biked down to get the mail with me, so we enjoyed the sticky fish together and had a laugh about it. I told her the Lord rewards us in different ways than with squashed chocolate fish, but often times it won’t be till we stand before Him at the end of our life here on earth. That’s when we’ll hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” What a day that will be.
