We had a wild blustery morning today – the perfect start to the first day of autumn. Then the sun came out after lunch and I went outside and gathered a whole lot of ripe berries from my chilean guava hedge. very tasty!
Jacob and Milly had their piano lesson this morning and I sat in on it and read an absorbing book about famous composers and pianists. I read all abour Liszt – his family was poor and his early education woefully deficient. he made up for this later by reading voraciously. I copied down a quote of something he wrote in his diary at age 15.
“Wasting time is one of the worst faults in the world. Life is so short, every moment is precious; yet we live as thought the world would never end.”
Well said, Liszt!
